April 2020
First of all, I bring you all my very best wishes that you and your families are safe and healthy. We’ve never seen anything like this before and hope we never do again. I know we are all ready to be rid of Corona and try to get back to some semblance of normal. I truly appreciate you all and everything that you’re doing through these difficult days.
Now it’s time to say goodbye to the first quarter! It’s hard to believe ¼ of the year is already behind us when it feels like we just started out.

Securities grew by $36 million and total assets ended the quarter at over $740 million! Net income ended the quarter at just over $2 million…..OUTSTANDING RESULTS!!

Hello CB&T Family! Where has the 1st quarter gone? Time seems to be flying by.
The Auburndale office had a good, solid 1st quarter. During the first quarter of the year the Auburndale office opened 63 checking account, 28 new savings accounts, 25 credit cards, 11 new loans, 122.22% YTD of goal.
Amanda Dean celebrated Brody’s 8th birthday in February, he is growing up way too fast! Brody and Maylee are both playing Baseball and having a blast!
Melissa Proctor’s 2 boys, Hayden and Bradley are also playing baseball and keeping her busy between practices and games. Her youngest Bradley got to play in his first baseball tournament. Melissa’s Boys also got to decorate some cookies from “The Royal Duo” (Amanda’s sister new cookie business)
Wendy’s Nephew Trey got to go to the Tampa Bay Renaissance Festival in February. Also in February Wendy’s youngest daughter Cheyenne went to her Senior High military ball with Summerlin High School.
The Auburndale office has been practicing social distancing and protecting ourselves the best we can.
The branch and the Collections department celebrated Bobby’s birthday in March, yummy!
Sofia Belette would like to thank Citizens Bank and Trust for giving me the opportunity to be part of this great financial family. I am very proud to be part of the Bartow team and looking forward to helping grow the offices goals.
We would like to thank Brandi Hampton for joining our team at Bartow during these hard times. We are so thankful for all that she does.- especially bringing us coffee each day.
The Chalet Office had a great first quarter of 2020. We ended the quarter with good scorecard results. We were above 100% in Credit Cards, Residential Mortgage Referrals, CFG Referrals, new Savings Accounts and Branch Net Income.
Jennifer Lopez and Andi Brannon kicked off the first quarter of 2020 by participating in the Care Center’s Empty Bowls for Hunger Relief event. They both painted bowls and were on hand for the Care Center’s 35th Anniversary Reception and Auction. Jennifer’s Autism Awareness bowl was popular and was purchased. Andi enjoys the bowl she painted. Andi Brannon and Jennifer Lopez also enjoyed an evening at The Ritz Theatre in January where they saw Eric Gutman in From Broadway to Obscurity. Eric preformed in the Broadway production of Jersey Boys.
Andi attended the Lake Wales Chamber of Commerce annual Economic Forum at Lake Ashton along with others from Citizens Bank and Trust.
Jennifer had a great experience with her Leadership Lake Wales Class on their Tallahassee trip. She got the opportunity to visit the State Capital and Supreme Court.
Cheryl Ketchum and her husband Todd took their grandchildren Timmy and Zeke to St. Augustine. They had a great time visiting the Washington Oaks Gardens.
Amiee Martinez and her son Davien had a blast visiting the Wild Florida Safari. Her son Davien loved seeing all of the exotic animals, but his favorite was the giraffes. Davien also helped his mom celebrate her 26th birthday by helping her open all of her presents.
The Chalet Office celebrated the birthdays of both Jackie Chacon and Amiee Martinez just before we learned we had to social distance. Several Spring Break trips got cancelled or postponed in mid-March but we’re all looking forward to better days ahead.
The Dundee family has had an eventful first quarter. We opened 88 checking and 42 savings. Since we are officially the only bank in Dundee, we really wanted to get out and let the community know about us, so Megan and Shantel visited multiple businesses in the area that do not currently bank with us.
Personally, we all took time off the first quarter, though for different reasons. Poor April had the flu the first part of January and left us to recuperate for a week. She also broke her foot, but it remains a mystery as to how that happened. Some good news is that she learned she will be a grandmother again to a baby girl soon, and her youngest daughter closed on her first home in February.
Tiffany took a staycation with her daughter. They enjoyed a lot of time together since the schools closed early. So far the only drawback to being at home all the time has been all of the online shopping Tiffany has taken up!
Shantel also took a staycation to get her kids acclimated with online learning due to the schools closing. Her youngest, Baby Leon, who is in pre-k was so excited to see his teacher onscreen for the first time in weeks! She is also a new aunt to Josiah, the first boy born to her younger brother after 4 girls! She has not been able to see him yet, but has tons of pictures in her phone.
Megan took time off in March to enjoy her daughters spring break. She was not able to go on a family trip she had planned, but she had fun coming up with activities for her daughter and nephews. She, Aliyah and Ryan are also excited to find out they are expecting a little Braxton Donley later this summer!
Our family is also happy to have Kaleigh with us! Her presence is why we have been able to all take time off with our families and know our customers are being taken care of!

Melinda and her husband, Eddie took a long weekend trip to Nashville in January to visit family there. The weather cooperated and they enjoyed the visit along with some shopping and trying a few new restaurants. Also in January, they attended their 17 year old granddaughter’s birthday party and seeing her surprised with her first car! Melinda and Eddie attended the roaring 20’s themed Bartow Chamber annual event and it was fun to see our Bartow friends and the awesome outfits.
Sena and her daughter Brittany attended the Tim Tebow Night to Shine Prom in February. Brittany had the best time dancing the night away and seeing some of her friends. We also celebrated Brittany’s 38th Birthday!
Brooke enjoys receiving her Hello Fresh box every week. Cooking is not one of her favorite things to do, her boyfriend Tyler is the chef in the house. Brooke loves to read and enjoys her 9 cats. Brooke loves her nephew Aiden who is now 8 months old.
Julie is working on a big home improvement job in her house. She is remodeling her kitchen. Lots of work! Julie is very talented with her hands and has done projects in her home.
Connie enjoys the spring time. She loves being outside. Connie is preparing work to get a new deck.
Edgewood is looking forward to getting back to business! Stay safe!
Like everywhere else, not much going on in Fort Meade! The streets are bare, most of the businesses around us have shut down, our once little busy town looks so empty. We are all ready for things to go back to “normal” or as close to normal as we could get.
Audrey’s children don’t understand why they can’t play with all their friends, or go see their grandparents. They’ve even started asking if they can go back to school. Apparently, they must not like their new teacher.
Teresa’s son Trey was planning on getting married this June but with the COVID-19 wrecking so many plans, they had a simple short & sweet ceremony at their church in Ft Meade on 3/23.
We’ve had lots of help since COVID-19 has closed our lobbies. Peggy & Judy are both quarantined with us here in Ft Meade. They’ve been a huge help…and they also both bake really good cakes….So I think we’re going to put in to keep them when all this is over with! HAHA!
Cynthia, our part time teller, has also started with us and is doing great.
We’re all trying to make the best of the situation & hope everyone is staying safe & healthy!
In the first quarter 2020 we opened 55 checking and 23 savings accounts with new money of $345,744.00. Total balance sheet dollars for the quarter was $56,589,288.00 or 108% of goal.
We booked 5 loans for $398,011.00 or 113% of goal. YTD loan balances through March are $32,094,581.00 or 99.42%. We had 5 qualified CFG appointments, 7 mortgage referrals and 4 approved credit cards in the quarter. YTD Branch new income is at 93.45% and the score card is .965%.
Our 100 year anniversary cakes were ordered and we began feeding our customers on the last Fridays in the month. Yummy!! The annual Chamber banquet was held in January and we had a great turn out. Bernie, Stephen, Theron, Paul Senft and myself in attendance.
Meriah celebrated her birthday in January with cake and a day off.
We attended Chamber board meetings, luncheons and ribbon cuttings. We had our first Advisory Board meeting at Southern Dunes with all members in attendance. Most of us worked the Lake Wales Art Show tent in February –also a good turnout. Our first all employee meeting was also held in February. Great food and fun with awards and prizes. Julie took some vacation time in March (spring break) with her daughter.
Then the VIRUS hit and everything stopped. Customers are getting used to doing business in the drive through. We’re still opening accounts and handing out money.
We are all in this together and with the Lord’s help we will overcome.

WOW time flies we completed the 1st quarter for 2020. Hope everyone enjoy the holidays with their family and friends. The Schalamar office stayed busy with everyone returning for the winter. It is sad to see some of the residents returning home early due to the coronavirus to be with their families up north. The club was able to have a few events prior to the virus closing down the activities for the community. They enjoyed Karaoke, Pot Luck Suppers, Wellness Fair, New Year’s Dance, Valentines Dance, Fashion Show, Craft Show, Can-Am golf tournament, Car and Truck Show before everyone heads back home to their families. Thanks to our terrific Marketing Department for helping with door prizes for few of the events that took place here in Schalamar.
I would like to thank the Auburndale office again for covering the Schalamar office while I enjoyed my vacation with family and friends. Thanks so much for all of your help!!!
The residents are grateful CB&T are helping them stay health and safe during this coronavirus outbreak.
Everyone here is keeping social distancing and use hand sanitizer. Please everyone stay healthy and stay during challenging times.
Branch traffic has remained consistent on the teller side despite the CoVID-19 pandemic. During the month of January, the South Lakeland teller staff saw 1062 transaction, February, 963 and March, 1022. The total QTD teller transactions were 3,047. Platform performance and traffic on the other hand has reduced significantly in March from January and February’s units of production as one could imagine with the lobby locked and social distancing measures in place. In January, platform staff opened 31 deposit accounts bringing $183,169, February 26 accounts bringing $140,372, & March 13 accounts at $257,844. The total new account production YTD was 70 with $581,385 new money. Through Q1, South Lakeland is trending 189% to plan on new checking, 200% to plan on new savings and 366% to plan on booked credit card production.
South Lakeland is trending well on the loan side with 6 closed loans & 802,014 in loan production, currently at 320% of YTD goal. Q2 has begun with $640,000 of new consumer loans in the pipeline.
The staff is finding their way in this new norm. Mark snapped an eerie photo of South Florida Ave. during lunch hour on a Friday afternoon. Usually cars are stacked up on this stretch of highway. Ryan recently celebrated his birthday on St. Patty’s Day with his family. Donna’s husband has been cleaning out the house and has now moved out to the yard trying to stay busy at home. Donna is not complaining! Brandie and Mark’s families are getting used the idea of home schooling & trying their best to keep the kids busy while at home. Mark’s wife Kerry and son Carter found a challenging puzzle. Mark has discovered there is one mountain bike trails system still open in the area.
Winter Haven opened 97 checking accounts, 47 new savings accounts, 7 Visa credit cards and 3 CFG/Trust referrals for the first quarter of 2020. We continued to stay busy even with the lobby being closed the last week and a half of March.
The Winter Haven office would like to officially welcome Bobby Smith and Tammy Ferguson to the Winter Haven office. They are quickly learning how much the Winter Haven loves to eat!
Shawn and her son, Colby went to Georgia for his 20th birthday in January. She also took some time off for her family’s annual camping trip in KICCO in February. Four days of no cellphone service and just beautiful weather!
Breanna’s daughter, Olivia celebrated her 4th birthday. She celebrated by going to Legoland and Chuck E. Cheese.
Rebecca and her family spent a little time in Georgia. They did some sightseeing and enjoyed some downtime.
March’s husband, Will had a milestone birthday in March. He turned the big “50”! She had a surprise party for him and his mother who also had a milestone birthday in March. She turned 75.
Shawn and Rebecca attended the wedding of Heather Jaeger. She married her sweetheart, Colby Riner. It was a beautiful wedding at the Horse Creek Camp in Ona.
Even though this is a troubling time for all of us, we are so thankful for our work family. The support from management and our coworkers has been very comforting and it makes going down this bumpy road a little bit easier. We will get through this together! We hope everyone and their families stay safe.

Tim would like to make everyone aware of the following:
IRS – Covid 19 Tax Relief:
Any Federal tax payment or tax filing that would normally be due between April 1 and July 15 are now due July 15, 2020.
RMD IRA/401k Rules:
Effective January 1, 2020 the start date for “Required Minimum Distributions (RMD)” for 401K and IRA Plans moved from 70 ½ to 72 for those born on or after July 1, 1949. However, due to Covid 19 a RMD is not required in 2020. This will be helpful for those who do not need the distribution, as they will have more time to recoup market losses before taking a distribution. On the flip side, those needing cash from their IRA can take a distribution up to $100K with no tax penalty in 2020, plus the distribution taken in 2020 will be taxed over 3 years from the date received or alternatively you can put the money back before the end of 3 years and it can be treated as a rollover.
Social distancing has led to zero exciting events to tell you guys about, so here’s what we’ve all been binge watching and who would recommend it: All American (Heather and Melissa), Tiger King (Melissa and Ginny), Hart of Dixie (oldie but a goodie from Melissa), Velvet (Ginny – fair warning it’s in Spanish with subtitles), Virgin River (Heather and Melissa) and Tim has been watching NCIS, Bull, American Idol and The Voice. Sheri isn’t much of a tv watcher and she’s been using all this extra time to work outside and get lots of things done (she wins). Kenny said he’s been watching Teletubbies for some reason (PS his kids are not toddlers).

As we all deal with this strange and somewhat scary time, we’ve continued to work through it as best we can. We pray you and your families are staying safe and finding ways to spend quality time together.
BSA Compliance:
Towards the latter part of the quarter, Wesly Saint Fleur was hired in a short term contractor role, to assist the BSA team during Denise’s maternity leave. Speaking of Denise, she and Billy welcomed a handsome and healthy baby boy, Kaiden Luke McGahee on March 24th. Thank you all for your prayers and support.
Deposit, Loan, CRA and Marketing Compliance:
As to Loan Compliance matters, several audits were closed out during the quarter, and our newly instituted deposit and loan compliance monitoring program was launched, in conjunction with our program partners at L&B Resources. In addition, and with special recognition for Anita DeWitt’s efforts, our HMDA LAR was submitted on time to the FFIEC.
As to Deposit and Marketing Compliance matters, our focus was primarily on our role with the upcoming Online Deposit Account Opening Program, and some finishing touches pertaining to our Online Consumer Lending Portal / Application. In addition, and with help from Sheri Deal, we discovered an additional $67,000 to report under our CRA Donation Program, which will go a long way to boost our CRA Credit with our upcoming FDIC Compliance & CRA Examination.
Last but not least, the “Compliance Management Department baby boom” continued as Karina welcomed her 4th Grandbaby, beautiful Kyann Hermine Lata, born the same day as baby Kaiden. Denise and Courtney will surely both have stories to tell about their unconventional births during unconventional times.

This past quarter we celebrated several birthdays. We celebrated Randy, Dee and Amanda’s in January. We celebrated Renee, Elaine and Kitty’s in February. Lots of good food.
Elaine Baker and her niece, Mattye, flew up to South Carolina so she can participate in a
Softball tournament and her grandson, Tamphrey, started playing baseball.
Elaine and her family went to the FL State Fair and had a blast.
Judy Long and her husband went to a Tampa Bay Lightning game. Tampa won 4/3.
Amanda Yanok and her husband, Chad, went to the Florida State Fair.
Now since the virus has taken over, no one is playing ball and we all miss it playing and attending games.
Hoping everyone stay safe and healthy.
The IT Department worked on several projects during the 1st quarter. First, the Department welcomed Scott Homes to the team. He is an experienced network administer and a positive addition to the team. We look forward to working with Scott and providing him with some exciting projects. Second, Lee Justice has continued to work on the phone system and cleaning up older connections. He has done an excellent job and the team really appreciates his efforts. Third, Patrick Wiseman has been working closely with Deposit Ops and other staff members to help streamline some Bank processes. We look forward to seeing what he has implemented. Fourth, Eric Dior has worked on several systems to keep them updated and running smoothly. He has put in a lot of after hours time to ensure the staff is not disrupted. Fifth, Ben Anderson has taken over the desktop responsibilities for the team. He has done an outstanding job building new hardware, deploying units, and keeping track of the changes.
Thanks for making CB&T one of the best places to work in Polk County.

The marketing department started off 2020 excited about CB&T’s 100th anniversary and the monthly cake at the branches on the last Friday of the month, the grand opening of the Ft. Meade’s new location, Lake Wales Art Show, and Communityfest in Winter Haven. In mid-March all planned events came to a screeching halt due to the COVID-19 outbreaks.
Sandra and Pam have remained busy rescheduling events, putting together the quarterly newsletter, organizing our CB&T inventory for upcoming events. The focus at present is developing a children’s craft project for Make It Magical scheduled in December in Lake Wales.
The pandemic weighs heavily upon the lives of all of us as we are anxiously thinking about our families, friends, and our communities. Remember, we are all going through this together so please show compassion, kindness and understanding to those around us every day.
The Residential Lending Team closed almost $7 Million in residential mortgage loans, with a Fee Income of $122,938 for the 1st quarter. We would not be able to achieve our goals without the partnership and referrals from everyone at Citizens Bank & Trust. Steve, Mary, Mark, Amanda & Doug are working diligently with their customers and real estate partners.
It has been quiet for most of us due to our nation’s current health crisis.
Renee’s grand-daughter, Taylor had a magical night at her Senior Prom. She was so beautiful, her sisters were amazed how much she looked like a princess.
The residential mortgage rates are still low at this time. Our conventional rates for a 30 year mortgage has been around 3.75% and a 15 year mortgage has been around 3.375%. Just a friendly reminder, we have several programs available for your customers. Steve, Mary, Mark, Amanda & Doug are ready to discuss our Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, Construction & Portfolio residential mortgage loan options with your customers. This would also be the perfect time to help our customers save some money by refinancing their existing mortgage.
The Residential Lending Team would like to thank each of you for your support. Your team work has been very much appreciated.
Steve, Mary, Mark, Amanda, Doug, Faye & Renee are looking forward to an extremely successful year in 2020.
Ridge Security Title had a very strong performance in the First quarter. Despite the everyday changes that are upon us, we have taken in new orders and closed many. Our office is experiencing a feeding frenzy. The first quarter net income yielded $49,749.
The outlook for the second quarter is positive and we hope to continue this trend.
