Brian Ulch, BCE

Vice President and Trust Officer/Portfolio Manager

Brian Ulch has more than 12 years’ experience as a Portfolio Manager. He joined Citizens Bank & Trust in 2008 as a Vice President and Trust Officer.

Brian has found a successful strategy in managing the downside risk of portfolios. The open architecture of CB&T’s Trust Department allows him to seek out solid securities that have little to no correlation to the assets already in the portfolio. Through this added diversification, the downside volatility is greatly reduced.

Brian’s investment philosophy is to take advantage of investor overreactions on both the buy side and the sell side. He can often be heard saying, “if you do the opposite of the masses and combine that with a little patience, you will come out ahead in the long run.”

An avid outdoorsman, Brian loves spending time on the water and enjoys bringing outdoor experiences to people who normally wouldn’t have the opportunity to participate. In July of 2006, he founded the Florida Corporation Wish 2 Fish, Inc., an organization dedicated to providing an unforgettable day on the water to underprivileged children. In June of 2007, the IRS recognized the organization as a 501.3.C nonprofit entity.

Annually, Brian hosts the Circle of Friends Gala. Located in Lake Wales, Circle of Friends’ mission is to support, include and empower children and young adults with physical and mental disabilities.

Brian was born in Winter Haven and continues to reside there with his wife and two daughters.
